The Terraces is a residential care home located in Paddington in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.
Completed in 2019, it’s one of many facilities built by Presbyterian Aged Care providing assisted living to older Australians. It provides palliative care and dementia support for residents as well as respite and long-term residential care.
The Terraces features 100 rooms and a 23-bed dementia unit. The facility also has multiple lounge, dining and activity rooms. For residents’ health and leisure there’s a small theatre, a swimming pool, a gym, and a cafe as well as in-house chefs preparing every meal. Landscaped gardens can be found across The Terraces including a private garden within the dementia unit.
We provided illumination in the corridors of The Terraces using Feelux strip lighting. Lit ‘memory boxes’ can be found outside resident’s rooms, holding photos and small personal possessions. These help each resident to find their way around the complex, while also connecting them to their history, identity and family.
Our Resolute D-Lights were installed within circulation areas and bedrooms while our Resolute Puncheon ceiling lamps were placed in the common areas. This helped to provide bright yet comfortable illumination for residents and care staff alike, with the textile fittings adding a sense of warmth and homeliness.
This project can be found in our Aged Care Lookbook along with our other aged care projects.
