One modular system, endless possibilities - that’s Plusminus.
We’re proud to have entered the Plusminus system by Vibia into the 2022 Australian Good Design Awards for excellence in lighting design. And not only did we enter it, but we took home a Best In Class award for it!
So what makes the Plusminus system an award-winning product? Well, there are plenty of obstacles that can come up when you’re choosing and installing lighting.
- Unconventional spaces can be difficult to light, especially when it comes to unique forms of interior architecture. You need lighting that can adapt to your space.
- It’s time-consuming to wire a bunch of individual luminaires, and specialist tools are usually required during the installation process.
- There may be very few electrical connection points within the space.
- Lighting may need to be customised after installation to better fit the needs of the project.
Here’s how the Plusminus system helps designers to overcome these common challenges:
- The foundation of this lighting system is a conductive textile belt that carries up to 180W of power.
- It only needs one electrical connection point to power multiple luminaires.
- Luminaires are attached to this belt using a click-and-connect system that is fast, easy, and safe.
- This belt can be ordered at lengths of up to 30 metres long and can be cut to size on-site, for customisation during or after installation. Belts can also be interconnected for an even larger-scale design.
Because its textile belt is conductive yet safe to touch, designers can play with their Plusminus design, freely attach their luminaires as desired, install their belt using a range of extra accessories and light an entire space in little under a day. A range of suspension accessories like wall fasteners, counterweights, metal beams and tensor wires give you even more freedom when designing and installing your Plusminus composition.
The Plusminus system comes with a range of installation options including surface mounting, recessed mounting, remote installation and a floor plug. The Plusminus further adapts to any project with a variety of dimming options such as On/Off or Push dimming, DALI, 1-10V dimming and Casambi compatibility. 6 kinds of luminaire can be selected, from cone-shaped shades, globe lights and semispheres, to spotlights and linear pendants (including a Low-UGR version for extra visual comfort).
The Plusminus online design tool gives users the freedom to choose their design from a pre-existing archetype or create their very own from scratch. When ordering your Plusminus, one of our Design Consultants will help you to plan and configure your design! We’ll also supply you with installation instructions and answer any further questions that you may have. Once your Plusminus has been ordered, it will arrive in an ergonomically-packed and recyclable box, ready for you to play with.
Plusminus launches at Sydney’s KODA Lightspace for Saturday InDesign, May 21st, 2022
On May 21st, we welcomed architects, interior designers and lighting specialists from all corners of Sydney to experience an immersive Plusminus installation. There was classic Spanish fare on offer, such as sangria and paella, to honour the Spanish roots of the Plusminus series. A range of Plusminus designs were placed throughout our showroom, showing visitors the limitless potential that this collection holds for lighting spaces. An information seminar from our expert team answered visitors’ FAQs and left our guests feeling inspired!
